The End of Two Thousand and Thirteen.

Well I hope everyone had a great holiday season. As the year begins to close, I can't help but think about everything that has happened within the year 2013. It wasn't the greatest year of my life, but it certainly held as much meaning as any other year, which is to say that at least it wasn't a terrible year. I graduated from college this year with my B.S. in Game Art, which after many years feels like quite the accomplishment. Since starting that journey back in 2006, it has been full of bumpy roads due to my hectic military career schedule, but I can happily say that it is done. The thought to continue my education has obviously entered my mind, but not quite sure that I'm ready to step into that zone just yet.

Besides the degree, I had decided to self-publish my first novel "Trials of Blood." As you may know, I finished this book last year and began to pitch it off to agents. Much like any other author, the results were less than desirable. This is understandable of course, since the industry is very competitive. After a second round earlier this year, I got tired of my novel sitting on my hard drive collecting digital dust. Thanks to amazon I was able to at least get my novel out there and into the hands of hundreds of readers all over the road. I haven't had any substantial success as of yet, but it feels good to know that at least people are reading the story that I have to tell.

As far as substantial events this year, I think those two covers it. The rest is the usual spending time with my family and working on some side projects. There are many things that I want to accomplish in my life, and I'm not one to just give up and go the usual road down the daily drag known as life. I don't want to just be content with my life, but I want to dream big and reach those goals. Sure I've encountered the dreadful face of failure, probably more times than I can count, but I won't stop there. No. I've heard too many stories about successful individuals who first met with failure countless times before finally accomplishing their goals. I continue to think about that when I sit here and think about the many things that I have planned for my life and those that I love. I don't want to just work for a living, but I want to do something that I enjoy doing that way I never have to work a day in my life.

As 2014 comes around the corner, I think about the many different things I would like to accomplish. I want to get a good jump on the second novel after "Trials of Blood" and hopefully finish it within the first quarter. Along with that, I want to join a good team that is currently in the works on developing the next big hit video game. There's no doubt that part is going to be difficult but I feel that I can contribute a great deal to a team that passionate about their work and want to see it comes to light. Being a part of something like that will give me a great sense of satisfaction. Once again, I'm not too used to sitting here and blogging about my thoughts and stuff, but I have to admit that it feels pretty good. I guess I should try and do this more often when 2014 comes around so that maybe I can better get my ideas and words out there to the public. Is that a good thing? I'm not sure yet but it's a journey that we will all go on together. An adventure is afoot! Until then, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year everyone! Make the journey into the next be one that you will always remember.
